Effective home remedies for body pain and weakness



Unless there is an underlying medical condition, body pain can be treated at home with simple home remedies.

Fatigue and body ache can take over soon after a big event — like a family wedding or Holi celebrations or a work presentation — get over. Days and days worth of sleepless nights and pushing ourselves to do just a little bit more each day can add up to a lot.
Other reasons for experiencing body pain include starting a new workout routine or taking your old exercise routine to a new level of intensity. Ironically, lack of exercise is also a major cause of body pain - especially back pain!

cold therapy

When you apply ice on the affected body part, it slows down the nerve impulses in that area thus relieving pain. Cold compression is effective in reducing inflammation and pain in the joints, even among arthritis patients.
How to do it:
Wrap three or four ice cubes in a small towel and apply to the affected area - wherever you have body pain.
Cooling gel packs can be placed over the affected area, too.
Non-medicated coolant sprays can help in reducing swelling and provide relief from pain.
You can do this remedy two or three times daily.

2. Dip in a warm salt solution

We have all dipped our feet in warm salt water after a vigorous workout or long trek at some point in our lives. Turns out, there’s solid science behind it: dipping the feet in salty water reduces oedema by osmosis and the warmth from the water loosen the knots in tired muscles addresses the muscle soreness.
How to do it:
Take a tub full of warm water and add a cup full of salt in it. Immerse the aching body part in the tub for 20 minutes.
If you cannot soak the body part, take a soft towel and dip it into the salty water. Now squeeze the towel and then apply it to the affected area. Repeat the process when the towel becomes cool.
You can do this remedy once or twice daily.
 
Ginger

People have used ginger for thousands of years, to treat a variety of conditions, including pain and nausea. It has powerful anti-inflammatory properties that help in getting rid of frequent body aches.
Note: This remedy might not be good for people with peptic ulcer, as it can cause burning sensation and irritation in the stomach.
How to use?
Grate 2 tablespoons of fresh ginger
Boil 4 cups of water
Add grated ginger to the warm water
Let it steep for 10 minutes
Strain the mixture and remove ginger pieces
Allow the water to cool
Sip the mix through the day for best results
Since ginger has a strong taste, you can also add lemon or honey to improve the taste.

Apple cider vinegar

With great antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, apple cider vinegar is definitely a ‘miracle cure’.
How to use?
Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar into a glass of warm water
Add honey to the mixture
Drink the mix twice a day for a duration of at least 2-3 days for best results
Also, you can soak yourself in warm water with 2 cups of apple cider vinegar for a nice, relaxing bath. Surely it will help you soothe your pain away.

Epsom Salt Foot Bath

A foot bath can help relieve strain from your muscles. You can add Epsom salt in the bath water and soak your feet in it. It will help remove toxins from your body that cause inflammation and body pain. The salt also acts as an antibacterial which keeps infections at bay.

3. Cinnamon

Cinnamon has potent anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and healing properties, making it one of the most sought-after remedies for treating body pains as well as improving overall health.
How to use?
Add one teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a glass of warm water
Stir well
Add some honey to the mixture and consume right away
You can have this mixture daily for best results.

Bananas

In most cases, the deficiency of potassium is the reason behind body and muscle aches. Consume 2 bananas daily to counteract the deficiency and provide your body with instant energy.

Mustard Oil

Another great way to fight body ache is by gently massaging some lukewarm mustard oil all over the body. Let the body soak the oil for a minimum of 30 minutes before washing it off with warm water.
Do this once every day to get rid of persistent body aches.
Your body needs vitamins to function properly. Deficiency of vitamin B1, E and D can cause muscle weakness and pain making your body feel tired, fatigued and exhausted with the minutest of physical activity. Incorporate foods rich in vitamins like carrots, apples, apricots, almonds, spinach and sweet potatoes etc., to steer clear of body pains and aches.
You can also take additional vitamin supplements after consulting with your doctor.

Turmeric Milk

Turmeric is rich in anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. These properties keep infections and diseases away and provide relief from body pain.
Milk – 100ml
Turmeric powder – ½ tbsp
What to Do
Take some warm milk in a glass.
Add the turmeric powder in in and mix it well.
Drink turmeric milk twice a day.

Cayenne Pepper Water

Cayenne pepper has anti-inflammatory properties which help lower the pain and reduce inflammation. It also contains capsaicin which is a natural nerve blocking painkiller which has no chemical side effects.
Cayenne pepper – ½ tbsp
Honey – ¼ tbsp
Water – 200ml
What to Do
Take a glass of warm water and add the cayenne pepper powder.
Add the honey and stir well.
Drink it twice a day.
Other preventive measures to steer clear of pain!
In addition to the above home remedies, here are a few lifestyle changes that can help you lead a healthy, active and pain-free life:
Drinking 8-10 glasses of water daily
Eating a healthy & balanced diet
Having a warm bath daily
Meditation
Sleeping for a minimum of 8 hours
